CURATOR'S NOTE
The appeal of Lab Rats comes from how deliberately its surface treatment is distributed across the MP5-SD. The key is the tension between Black and Red: one attracts the eye, the other gives the painted and material contrast room to register. The result feels balanced and deliberate: recognisable at a glance, but detailed enough to reward a closer look.

VISUAL ANCHOR
Across the receiver and suppressor, Lab Rats concentrates most of the Black. This is where the surface-specific graphic treatment reads most clearly and where the MP5-SD gains its first visual anchor.
COLOUR TRANSITION
The handguard and magazine introduce Red as a counterweight. On Lab Rats, that shift prevents Black from flattening the design and gives the painted and material contrast a more deliberate rhythm.
HARDWARE CONTRAST
At the stock and smaller controls, Green and the underlying construction become more visible. The quieter treatment frames the painted areas instead of competing with them.
