CURATOR'S NOTE

Bright Water gives the ★ Bowie Knife a clear identity without needing every section to compete for attention. Its cool aquatic patterning is carried by Blue, then tempered by White so the finish does not collapse into a single block of colour. It is the restraint between those elements—not sheer saturation—that gives the finish its character.

MAIN GESTURE

Blue is most assertive on the blade face, turning that section into the visual anchor of Bright Water. The cool aquatic patterning is easiest to understand here.

QUIETER SUPPORT

The spine and cutting edge introduce White as a counterweight. On Bright Water, that shift prevents Blue from flattening the design and gives the painted hydrographic surface a more deliberate rhythm.

EDGE DETAIL

At the handle and pommel, Black and the underlying construction become more visible. The quieter treatment frames the painted areas instead of competing with them. On this ★ Bowie Knife, that role is specific to Bright Water.
