CURATOR'S NOTE

The appeal of Contrast Spray comes from how deliberately its surface treatment is distributed across the M249. The key is the tension between Beige and Grey: one attracts the eye, the other gives the painted and material contrast room to register. That balance keeps the finish coherent from first read to close-up inspection.

COLOUR MASS

Beige is most assertive on the receiver and upper shroud, turning that section into the visual anchor of Contrast Spray. The surface-specific graphic treatment is easiest to understand here.

SMALLER INTERRUPTIONS

Moving into the stock and magazine housing, Grey interrupts the main field just enough to separate the surfaces. That pacing is what keeps Contrast Spray readable on the M249.

SILHOUETTE EDGE

Near the barrel, bipod and exposed hardware, the finish steps back. Black becomes the final accent, allowing the M249's physical construction to close the composition. On this M249, that role is specific to Contrast Spray.
