CURATOR'S NOTE

Submerged is strongest when you read it as a composition rather than a colour sample. The key is the tension between Black and Green: one attracts the eye, the other gives the painted and material contrast room to register. The result feels balanced and deliberate: recognisable at a glance, but detailed enough to reward a closer look.

DETAILS / CLOSE-UP

VISUAL ANCHOR

The receiver and upper shroud carry the strongest Black passage in Submerged. On the M249, that concentration gives the finish a clear centre of gravity before the eye moves outward.

COLOUR TRANSITION

Moving into the stock and magazine housing, Green interrupts the main field just enough to separate the surfaces. That pacing is what keeps Submerged readable on the M249.

HARDWARE CONTRAST

The barrel, bipod and exposed hardware act as a visual release point: Brown and exposed material reduce the density of Submerged and sharpen the boundary between finish and hardware.
