CURATOR'S NOTE

On the M4A4, Sheet Lightning works through hierarchy: one visual idea leads, the rest supports it. Here, Blue supplies the visual weight and Black gives the surface enough structure for the surface-specific graphic treatment to stay legible. Nothing needs to be exaggerated; the palette and surface treatment already create a strong visual signature.

COLOUR MASS

Blue is most assertive on the receiver and handguard, turning that section into the visual anchor of Sheet Lightning. The surface-specific graphic treatment is easiest to understand here.

SMALLER INTERRUPTIONS

The stock and magazine introduce Black as a counterweight. On Sheet Lightning, that shift prevents Blue from flattening the design and gives the painted and material contrast a more deliberate rhythm.

SILHOUETTE EDGE

The barrel assembly and exposed hardware act as a visual release point: Brown and exposed material reduce the density of Sheet Lightning and sharpen the boundary between finish and hardware.
