CURATOR'S NOTE
On the MAC-10, Echoing Sands works through hierarchy: one visual idea leads, the rest supports it. Its surface-specific graphic treatment is carried by Brown, then tempered by Beige so the finish does not collapse into a single block of colour. It is the restraint between those elements—not sheer saturation—that gives the finish its character.
DETAILS / CLOSE-UP
DOMINANT PASSAGE
The upper receiver and body carry the strongest Brown passage in Echoing Sands. On the MAC-10, that concentration gives the finish a clear centre of gravity before the eye moves outward.
PATTERN CONTROL
Along the grip and magazine, Beige creates the second layer of the composition. It breaks the Brown mass without weakening the finish's overall identity.
MATERIAL DEPTH
The wire stock and front assembly act as a visual release point: Black and exposed material reduce the density of Echoing Sands and sharpen the boundary between finish and hardware.
