CURATOR'S NOTE

Case Hardened changes the character of the ★ Ursus Knife by treating its silhouette as part of the graphic design. Its heat-treated colour mottling is carried by Blue, then tempered by Gold so the finish does not collapse into a single block of colour. It is the restraint between those elements—not sheer saturation—that gives the finish its character.

DETAILS / CLOSE-UP

COLOUR MASS

Across the blade face, Case Hardened concentrates most of the Blue. This is where the heat-treated colour mottling reads most clearly and where the ★ Ursus Knife gains its first visual anchor.

SMALLER INTERRUPTIONS

The spine and cutting edge introduce Gold as a counterweight. On Case Hardened, that shift prevents Blue from flattening the design and gives the hardened steel a more deliberate rhythm. On this ★ Ursus Knife, that role is specific to Case Hardened.

SILHOUETTE EDGE

At the handle and pommel, Brown and the underlying construction become more visible. The quieter treatment frames the painted areas instead of competing with them. On this ★ Ursus Knife, that role is specific to Case Hardened.
