CURATOR'S NOTE
Video Cam changes the character of the MAC-10 by treating its silhouette as part of the graphic design. The key is the tension between Black and Grey: one attracts the eye, the other gives the painted and material contrast room to register. It is the restraint between those elements—not sheer saturation—that gives the finish its character.

PRIMARY FIELD
Black is most assertive on the upper receiver and body, turning that section into the visual anchor of Video Cam. The surface-specific graphic treatment is easiest to understand here.
SECONDARY RHYTHM
Along the grip and magazine, Grey creates the second layer of the composition. It breaks the Black mass without weakening the finish's overall identity. On this MAC-10, that role is specific to Video Cam.
MATERIAL BREAK
At the wire stock and front assembly, Brown and the underlying construction become more visible. The quieter treatment frames the painted areas instead of competing with them. On this MAC-10, that role is specific to Video Cam.
