CURATOR'S NOTE

Steel Work changes the character of the M4A4 by treating its silhouette as part of the graphic design. The key is the tension between Red and Grey: one attracts the eye, the other gives the metallic surface treatment room to register. It is the restraint between those elements—not sheer saturation—that gives the finish its character.

DETAILS / CLOSE-UP

MAIN GESTURE

Across the receiver and handguard, Steel Work concentrates most of the Red. This is where the material-led texture reads most clearly and where the M4A4 gains its first visual anchor.

QUIETER SUPPORT

The stock and magazine introduce Grey as a counterweight. On Steel Work, that shift prevents Red from flattening the design and gives the metallic surface treatment a more deliberate rhythm.

EDGE DETAIL

The barrel assembly and exposed hardware act as a visual release point: Black and exposed material reduce the density of Steel Work and sharpen the boundary between finish and hardware.
