CURATOR'S NOTE

The appeal of Red Filigree comes from how deliberately its surface treatment is distributed across the MAC-10. Its ornamental material contrast is carried by Red, then tempered by Black so the finish does not collapse into a single block of colour. It is the restraint between those elements—not sheer saturation—that gives the finish its character.

DETAILS / CLOSE-UP

COLOUR MASS

Across the upper receiver and body, Red Filigree concentrates most of the Red. This is where the ornamental material contrast reads most clearly and where the MAC-10 gains its first visual anchor.

SMALLER INTERRUPTIONS

Along the grip and magazine, Black creates the second layer of the composition. It breaks the Red mass without weakening the finish's overall identity.

SILHOUETTE EDGE

At the wire stock and front assembly, Grey and the underlying construction become more visible. The quieter treatment frames the painted areas instead of competing with them. On this MAC-10, that role is specific to Red Filigree.
