CURATOR'S NOTE

On the MAC-10, Case Hardened works through hierarchy: one visual idea leads, the rest supports it. The Blue passages establish the first read, while Gold controls the separation between sections; the heat-treated colour mottling provides the identity. It is the restraint between those elements—not sheer saturation—that gives the finish its character.

DETAILS / CLOSE-UP

SURFACE FOCUS

Across the upper receiver and body, Case Hardened concentrates most of the Blue. This is where the heat-treated colour mottling reads most clearly and where the MAC-10 gains its first visual anchor.

STRUCTURAL BREAK

The grip and magazine introduce Gold as a counterweight. On Case Hardened, that shift prevents Blue from flattening the design and gives the hardened steel a more deliberate rhythm.

FINAL ACCENT

Near the wire stock and front assembly, the finish steps back. Brown becomes the final accent, allowing the MAC-10's physical construction to close the composition. On this MAC-10, that role is specific to Case Hardened.
